Went to change a pair of sink taps for an 84 year old lady today and she was telling me about her new boiler she had installed in the loft last August by her heating engineer. I asked her if she was happy with what he did and she mentioned she was a bit concerned as they messed her around and she felt pressurised.
I said I would nip up in to the loft and check it over to give her peace of mind. The guy had done an average job but hadn’t insulated the new pipework in the loft or installed frost protection to protect the new boiler.
Insulation and frost protection are required by the boiler manufacturer and common sense. She told me she had a certificate from Gas-Safe to say it had been installed competently.
Yeah, competent persons schemes are flawed.
